Help Us Tell Bloomfield’s Story
BLOOMFIELD, CONN., Updated January 3, 2026 — A true community newspaper cannot be written by just one person—or even a few. It requires a chorus of voices representing every corner of our town. Today, the Bloomfield Community Dispatch is issuing a call for contributors. We are looking for neighbors who are passionate about Bloomfield and eager to help document its history as it happens.
Who We Are Looking For
Whether you are a seasoned writer or someone who has never written an article in their life, there is a place for you here.
- Investigative Reporters: Help us dig into public records and cover Town Council and Committee meetings. What are the new business plans? What challenges do owners face? We need reporters to highlight what the town is doing right and where it can improve.
- Community Storytellers: Are you excited about local culture? Cover our fairs, concerts, and joyful events. Help us tell the stories of our community, from the perspectives of our youth to the cherished memories of our seniors.
- Photographers & Videographers: Capture the visual beauty of our town and the history of Bloomfield in motion. Help us create a living testimonial for our town’s vitality.
Learn the Craft
As Editor-in-Chief, I am committed to making this a learning environment. We will provide mentorship in the principles of journalism, teaching you how to research facts, conduct interviews, and write with objectivity and impact.
Specialized Role: Social Media & Digital Engagement
As we grow, we are seeking a dedicated individual to help lead our audience engagement and multimedia storytelling. This is a volunteer role, but it is an excellent opportunity for an intern seeking university credit or a portfolio builder for aspiring digital marketers.
The Scope:
- Short-Form Video: Create compelling YouTube Shorts, TikToks, and FB/IG Reels that bring our headlines to life.
- Visual Assets: Develop graphics using AI-assisted tools (Gemini Nano Banaa Pro) to maintain the Dispatch's distinct visual identity.
- Platform Management: Manage The Dispatch LinkedIn company page and community-centric social channels.
- Insights: Interpret engagement metrics and advise on digital growth strategies.
Note: This is a volunteer/unpaid position. We are happy to coordinate with academic institutions to provide internship certification and professional oversight.
