Letter to the Editor: Submission Guidelines

We welcome letters that contribute to a civil and fact-based public discourse. To be considered for publication, your submission must meet the following criteria:

1. Attribution: All letters must include your full name and town of residence. We do not publish anonymous correspondence.

2. Factual Accuracy: If you are contesting a specific report, please cite the public record or source you are referencing.

3. Discourse Standards: Submissions containing ad hominem attacks, logical fallacies, or personal insults will be rejected. We debate issues, not personalities.

4. Edits: We reserve the right to edit for length and clarity while maintaining the author's original message.

Investigative Article Submission Guidelines

The Dispatch accepts freelance and community submissions for investigative articles or op-eds. We hold contributors to strict standards of journalistic integrity. Submissions must adhere to the following:

1. Sourcing & Verification: We operate on a "show your work" policy. All factual claims must include references to primary sources. While in-line citations are not required in the text, you must provide active hyperlinks to public records, statutes, or digital evidence where applicable. For witness accounts, full names and contact information (for editorial verification purposes) must be provided, even if the source requests anonymity in print.

2. Multimedia Chain of Custody (The "7-Year Pledge"): If your submission includes multimedia evidence (audio recordings, video files, or high-resolution photography), you explicitly pledge to retain the complete, unedited, raw source files for a period of no less than seven (7) years. This is to ensure the integrity of the record against any future legal or ethical challenges.

3. Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Transparency is paramount. You must disclose any personal, financial, or familial relationships you have with the subjects of your reporting. A failure to disclose a conflict of interest is grounds for immediate retraction.

4. Originality: Submissions must be original works. Any use of AI-generated text must be disclosed and is subject to heavy editorial scrutiny.
